Funding for SchoolsI will collaborate and work creatively with the BMA, as well as other local and state sources to maximize funding for our schools. As your board member, I will insist the BMA fund GMSD schools in a manner that recognizes them as the asset they are to our community. More than "required" funding is necessary to move beyond excellence.

Focus on the Classroom I believe the most profound impact on our children's learning is a quality teacher in every classroom. As a current educator at CBU and a former high school teacher, I understand how board policy and decisions influence the classroom. I will expect policies we approve as a board to have a positive effect on every student group. Success across the board is required to move beyond excellence.

AccountabilityOur community has high expectations for public education. GMSD has built a strong foundation over the last 5 years; however, as we look to the next 5 year strategic plan, I will hold the superintendent and school leaders accountable to measurable objectives, high standards, and positive educational outcomes. I expect GMSD to move beyond excellence in all areas.

High StandardsGMSD schools are among the best on several measures (ACT score, college scholarships, graduation rate, state athletic championships). A high ACT score is one measure of success but we need to educate the whole child. There are other areas we as a district should strive to improve: decision making, relationship skills, self awareness, social awareness, and self management. To move beyond excellence, we must focus on every aspect of our programming.
